Mount Albert Station

Mt Albert Station is located about 60 kilometres by road from the township of Wanaka, near the township of Makarora. The farm has been divided up into paddocks and runs. It can be summarised as having steep faces, river terraces and river flats.

About Mount Albert Station

The high-country property comprises of both pastoral lease and freehold titles spanning close to 12,000 hectares in area. A large-scale sheep and cattle farm operates on the property running approximately 9500 stock units. This area comprises of extensive river flats and alpine terrain. On the Makarora township side of the property, the freehold land comprised of Wilkinvale, Alkea and Millionaires Flat extends approximately 18 km up both sides of the Makarora River. 674 hectares of paddocks in this area provide the productive are of the farming operation. The western side of the property, valleys extend up into the Mt Aspiring National Park, the station has around 10,000 people a year pass through it to venture into the Wilkin and Young River Valleys. 

 

This level of public interaction with the Stations activities adds a further set of unique challenges for this farming enterprise to manage day by day. From the head of Lake Wanaka, the farm extends over five kilometres along the western side of the lake where a small freehold title exists at the lake shore (Craigie Burn -90 Ha). It is here that the property borders Minaret Station.
