About Hillend Station
Hillend Station was originally part of Wanaka Station, which was run by two of the first settlers in the late 1850s. The land was subdivided in the 1870s, forming the area we now know as Hillend. Hillend Station is owned Sam Morgan and managed by Mike Scurr. The station covers 2850 hectares (which includes The Triangle and Mt Buster blocks). The farm has been divided up into paddocks and blocks. It can be summarised as having steep faces and river terraces and flats. It borders the Stack Conservation Area, Alphaburn Station, Waterfall Creek, the Cardrona River and Spotts Creek.
HES has operated as a high-country farm since the 1800’s when it was part of Wanaka Station, in recent times it went through Pastoral lease tenure review, where some of the land has been absorbed into Conservation Park. HES has been subdivided into upmarket lifestyle blocks. A medium-scale farm operates on the property running around 4500 stock units (2018).
